Empowering Disadvantaged Youth with Opportunities and Support
With directors Faye Safodien & Ivy Stripp and Co-Founder Stephanie Benjamin, Steph’s Ladles of Love is a registered NGO and feeding scheme devoted to educating and providing nutritious meals for children and youth in our communities since March 2014. Located in an informal settlement in Belhar, Cape Town, we are currently working on a project which aims to purchase two containers in order to establish a library to provide education and increase literacy amongst the children in the area.

We are super excited to have collaborated with yet another organization, Tinkies Feeding Scheme, founded by Jozeen Dryer. Also based in Belhar, our objective with this project is to feed and provide therapy while assisting and empowering our disadvantaged youth by educating them and paving the way for success for each individual. We’ll be providing therapy training to the youth and assisting them in their journey to become certified therapists and eventually setting up their own therapy businesses.
Relax & Rejuvenate Mobile Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation & Spa is proud to have initiated the HUB.SCI Skills Development Empowerment program in 2017. We recognized the need to empower young women from impoverished communities such as Hanover Park and Manenberg who had faced obstacles in completing their education. With our expertise in spa services and a passion for uplifting communities, we took the initiative to provide training and resources to these deserving individuals.
Through our collaboration with schools in these areas, we have been able to create a comprehensive and impactful program for the young women we serve. HUB.SCI emphasizes our commitment to skills development and community Empowerment. We have worked tirelessly to ensure that these young women receive the training and support they need to thrive.
At Relax and Rejuvenate, we firmly believe in the power of education and vocational training. Over a period of six months, we have worked closely with these young women, providing them with training in massage therapy methods, hair threading techniques, manicures, and pedicures. Our goal is to equip them with the necessary skills to pursue careers in the wellness industry.
In addition to practical skills training, the participants of our program have also attended a business course. This course has been designed to teach them how to leverage their newly acquired skills and transform them into viable business ventures. We understand the importance of entrepreneurship in creating sustainable futures, and we are committed to supporting these young women in their entrepreneurial endeavors.
To further enhance their training, we have provided job opportunities to the graduates of our program. By gaining real-world experience, they are able to apply their skills and develop confidence in their abilities. This practical exposure not only strengthens their skills but also prepares them for independent professional practice.
As part of our ongoing commitment to these young women, we are dedicated to providing them with the tools they need to start their own businesses. Through the HUB.SCI Skills Development Empowerment program, we aim to supply them with business kits that include a plinth (massage bed), a beauty box, and essential oils. This support ensures that they have the necessary resources to kickstart their entrepreneurial ventures successfully.
